Alternative Provision in Cornwall
EdTucate offers personalised Alternative Provision for children and young people who need a different approach to education. We understand that some learners are not thriving within traditional settings and need support that is more flexible, more relational and more responsive to their individual needs.
Alternative provision in Cornwall gives children and young people a more flexible route when mainstream education is not currently meeting their needs. At EdTucate, provision can be shaped around the learner’s interests, wellbeing, learning profile, academic goals and current school situation, with support available through private, school or local authority referrals.

A more personalised approach
Our Alternative Provision is built around the learner. We focus on creating a calm, supportive environment where children and young people can feel safe, understood and able to engage at their own pace.
How our alternative provision works
We begin by understanding the learner’s current situation, including what has made education difficult, what support has already been tried, and what a realistic next step should look like. From there, we build a personalised timetable that may include 1:1 teaching, small-group learning, core subjects, GCSE, iGCSE or Functional Skills support.
For some learners, the aim may be to rebuild confidence and routine. For others, it may be to maintain academic progress, prepare for exams, support a reduced timetable, or provide education while longer-term arrangements are being agreed. The provision is reviewed as the learner settles, so support can adapt rather than stay fixed.

Who our provision may support
- Learners struggling with mainstream education

- Learners experiencing anxiety or school avoidance
- Pupils who need a reduced or bespoke timetable

Who alternative provision may be suitable for

We also work with families, schools and local authorities where a bespoke package is needed.

Learning, confidence and next steps
Alternative provision works best when it has a clear purpose. For some learners, that purpose is re-engagement with education. For others, it is exam preparation, maintaining progress, or creating a calmer pathway while wider SEND, EOTAS or school placement decisions are being made. Our focus is to make learning feel possible again.
Working with families, schools and local authorities
We welcome private referrals as well as school and council referrals. Whether a family is looking for a more personalised route, a school needs short-term support for a pupil, or a local authority is seeking a bespoke package, we aim to provide provision that is thoughtful, flexible and realistic.
Families can contact EdTucate directly to discuss private provision. Schools can refer when a pupil needs short-term or longer-term support outside the usual classroom environment. Local authorities can also discuss bespoke provision for learners who need education arranged around their individual needs.
